Doom 3 Expansion Pack
Release Date: April 3, 2005
An official expansion pack for Doom 3. It was developed by Nerve Software, under the auspices of the base game's creators. Resurrection of Evil continues the storyline established in the core game, once again taking the player to the secret research facility on Mars. It turns out that defeating the powerful Cyberdemon and destroying the portal leading to hell were not the only problems of the Union Aerospace Corporation.
Resurrection of Evil is the first official expansion pack for Doom 3. It was developed by Nerve Software and id Software (as a consultant). It turns out that defeating the Cyberdemon and destroying the portal leading to Hell is not enough to solve the problems of the secret base belonging to the Union Aerospace Corporation and located on Mars. Assuming the role of a nameless commando wearing a green armor, the player's task is to kill the main culprit called Malcolm Betruger, exterminating hordes of monsters along the way, once again.
Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil for PC and XBX offers new levels, several new enemies and two fancy additions to the weaponry: the classic, double-barreled shotgun and Ionized Plasma Levitator, otherwise known as the Grabber. The latter allows to control different objects scattered throughout levels. The player also has an ancient artifact at their disposal - this allows to slow down the age of time, increase the amount of damage dealt with fists, as well as to become immortal for a short period of time.
Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil for PC and XBX adds new monsters to the bestiary. These include the Bruiser (a semi-mechanical being bearing a resemblance to Mancubus), the Vulgar (similar to the Imp, but it is faster and more deadly), the Forgotten (flying skulls; a reference to Lost Souls from the original Doom), as well as three Hunters, serving the role of mini-bosses.
Also, the multiplayer mode was modified to a certain degree. Up to eight players can meet in a multiplayer session now. Furthermore, four new maps were added - two of those are located in Hell, the third is set in the ruins of an ancient, Martian civilization and the last one takes the players back to the UAC base.

FPS series being one of the forerunners of the first-person shooter genre. The series was created by id Software studio and has, so to speak, three "fathers" - John Carmack, John Romero and Tom Hall. Nevertheless, over the years, teams such as Midway Games and Nerve Software have also been involved in its development. Although the series made its debut on personal computers, over time it began to make its presence increasingly clear also on consoles, as well as on mobile devices.
