Distraint is a two-dimensional point & click adventure game, representing the genre of psychological thriller. In the game we play the role of a young, ambitious man, facing a difficult choice, who may ruin the life of an elderly woman. The title was developed by the Finnish independent developer Jesse Makkonen.

Plot

In Distraint we control the fate of a young man named Price. In order to secure his shares in a well-known company, the man has to occupy the apartment of an older woman. In making this decision, he embarks on a path that will force him to discover the price of his humanity. Distraint tells the story of his dilemmas, actions and guilt.

Mechanics

Distraint is a classic point & click adventure game. The player explores locations, collects items, talks with NPCs and solves simple puzzles (usually using some item, getting to the right place, or finding something on the screen). The main attraction of this production is a disturbing and thought-provoking story.

Technical aspects

Distraint has a relatively simple, two-dimensional visuals, which consist mainly of static and animated illustrations. Particularly noteworthy is the interesting and disturbing artistic style, which harmonizes well with both the dark colors of this title and its heavy topic. During the game we are accompanied by an intriguing soundtrack.
