Action game with survival elements, in which we go to the postapocalyptic world, where man is a wolf to man and zombie is a zombie. In Deadcraft we explore the wilderness, complete tasks and eliminate hordes of enemies.
Deadcraft is an action game with survival elements. It was developed by Marvelous Inc. studio, known for Daemon X Machina game, and published by XSEED Games.
Deadcraft takes us on a journey to the postapocalyptic world, affected by a meteor shower years ago, causing a cataclysm on a global scale. As if that wasn't enough, along with space debris a mysterious virus came to Earth, which started to change people into bloodthirsty zombies.
Decades later, the survivors try to raise the rest of civilization from its knees. One of the survivors is Reid, who has been struggling with the cosmic disease since birth. For some unknown reason, the virus has not turned him into a living corpse, but has given him supernatural abilities that healthy people can only dream of. The protagonist and his friend Gene led a relatively peaceful life in the wilderness, until Gene was killed by Nebron, the leader of the Ark. Reid also fell into his hands, but managed to escape just in time to avoid an inevitable death. Now the hero intends to take revenge for his partner's death, for which he will first have to prepare himself thoroughly.
In Deadcraft we observe the action from the top-down view. We travel through the wilderness and get to know its inhabitants and complete various tasks pushing forward the plot and side missions. What's interesting, Reid can let us know both his good and bad side, helping encountered characters or on the contrary - taking what he needs from them by force (every NPC can be forced to share with us what he has; however, it's worth not doing it too often, so that we won't be rewarded for our head).
No matter which path we choose, we have to face hordes of enemies, among which we can find both the living dead and hostile humans. We fight with our enemies in dynamic battles, by shooting, fighting in close quarters (using cold weapons or quite unusual murder tools, such as guitar) and also by using Reid's supernatural powers. We recharge them by eating the meat of defeated enemies. It's worth being careful, because every enemy we devour brings us closer to losing humanity and turning into a zombie.
However, this is not the end of our possibilities on the battlefield. Reid has a base at his disposal, which we expand with time, as well as a piece of land. There you can plant the bodies of defeated zombies, which then grow into friendly and loyal living dead. These unusual soldiers can be an important in battles with enemies and serve Reid as a source of resources to create new weapons and other useful items.
An extensive crafting system has been implemented in the game. It allows not only to produce new tools of murder, but also to prepare meals that provide us with various effects. Besides, we can grow plants on Reid's field... and water them with the blood of zombies to enrich them with unique features. Apart from that, we can find here survival elements. We have to pay attention to hunger and fatigue level of the hero (after exhausting the endurance bar, which we replenish by eating and sleeping, he starts losing life points). Along with the progress in the adventure (and above all - for eliminating enemies) we gain experience points (called here survival points) and unlock new skills and improve the ones we already have.
Graphics in Deadcraft is made in comic style. Overall the game looks quite good.

DEADCRAFT is unfortunately not worth the time. The zombie-human hybrid thing is cool, but pretty much everything else about the game feels half-baked.
Chalgyr's Game Room: 9 / 10 by Hayden Trattner
Deadcraft is a visually beautiful (if at times cartoonishly gorey) game that plays quite smoothly. Effective in-game tutorials the game’s signature dual-natured crafting and combat systems. Quick action and a well-constructed UI keep the player engaged with minimal overhead. Nested menu systems and a lack of hotkeys make it apparent this game was built with consoles in mind, but are easy enough to navigate that this is a design choice that shouldn’t cost much goodwill from PC-only players. A focus on getting adequate food and water slows down the early game, but also emphasizes the harsh environment the game is set in very effectively. Overall, Deadcraft is a well-constructed action IsoRPG, and fans of the genre would do well to grab it on the platform of their choice.

Deadcraft is an amalgamation of inspirations coming together to create something distinct. And you know what, the various fascinating ideas and mechanics are enough to assure there’s fun. What ends up bogging down the session are odd decisions.
