The story begins with a mysterious letter from Alyssi's mother, in which the parent tells her daughter to find a safe haven and stay away from home. Of course, the girl does the opposite. At this point, the journey begins in the dark world of lost souls and monsters, in which the 14-year-old heroine discovers her destiny.
