Borderlands Expansion Pack
Release Date: November 24, 2009
The first DLC for Borderlands, a successful action game that combines shooter with RPG elements. It was developed by Gearbox Software. Similarly to the vanilla version, the action of The Zombie Island Of Dr. Ned takes place on the post-apocalyptic planet of Pandora, although in a completely new location: the town of Jakobs Cove, the inhabitants of which were accidentally transformed into bloodthirsty zombies by the mad doctor Ned.
The Zombie Island Of Dr. Ned for is the first DLC for Borderlands, a game that combines elements of a spectacular first-person shooter and a simple RPG, which came out in October 2009. It was developed by Gearbox Software.
In the game, we are taken to the post-apocalyptic planet of Pandora again. Having installed the expansion, we receive a message about the possibility of fast travel to a remote town of Jakobs Cove in the swamps. Therein, we uncover that a man named doctor Ned accidentally changed all Jakobs corporation’s workers into mindless zombies. Our primary task is to find a way to restore normality. Compared to the vanilla game, the DLC features even larger dose of dark humor and the main storyline is clearly inspired by the famous The Island of Doctor Moreau.
We will face mostly various kinds of zombies. The monsters can run, crawl, and jump, and their arsenal of attacks includes spitting acid or detonating their body parts. Apart from zombies, we will also encounter creatures called Tankensteins, based on the classic Frankenstein. In The Zombie Island Of Dr. Ned, there is no shortage of new bosses, for example, a durable foe with a huge pumpkin on his head. The expansion also introduces new and rare items as well as several interesting weapons that can be bought in special spots called the Jakobs Brand Vending Machines.
The production provides six to ten additional gameplay hours. Besides several primary quests, we can also perform tens of side quests. It must also be stressed that the expansion is meant for characters of at least 10th experience level. Save for this limitation, the difficulty level of The Zombie Island Of Dr. Ned automatically adjusts to our level of advancement in the vanilla game.
The graphics of The Zombie Island Of Dr. Ned are clearly have a darker atmosphere than the original Borderlands. In the game, apart from exploring streets of a town, we also visit a cemetery and underground cave complexes, among other places.
