Release Date: December 5, 2023
Retro FPS with a horror and western feel from the Polish studio Hyperstrange. In Blood West, as a ghostly desperado we deal with demons in an abandoned mining settlement, whether massacring enemies in dynamic clashes or eliminating them silently.
Blood West is a first-person survival horror western-style shooter. It is another project of the Warsaw-based independent studio Hyperstrange, which previously created Postal: Brain Damaged.
In Blood West we play a dead gunman, who is not granted peace. Instead of heaven (or hell) a cursed mining town, overrun by demons and ancient horror, awaits him. In this place you can't count on faith and prayers for the dead - only a shotgun at your side gives you comfort and maybe allows you to stop this afterlife adventure.
Although the mix of FPS and hordes from hell may bring to mind the Doom series, Blood West goes in a slightly different direction. Instead of incredible stunts and neck-breaking action, the Hyperstrange studio's creation features a more methodical and somewhat survivalist gameplay. Of course, there are dynamic clashes with demonic enemies, but the game doesn't discourage us to eliminate them quietly.
Exploration of locations and searching for resources such as ammunition plays an important role. In addition, as we progress in the game, we develop the character's attributes, which makes fighting groups of increasingly difficult enemies easier.
Graphically Blood West is a retro-style game, using angular graphics ( low poly) and clearly low resolution.

Game Ratings for Blood West Video Game.
Screen Rant: 4.5 / 5 by Leo Faierman
But perhaps Blood West’s strongest component is its exploration, and the pull to devour every inch of its creepy map design can be reason enough to turn the game into a 30-hour experience or more. The amount of that time spent dying and backtracking are all part of the hellish journey, but the difficulty is balanced such that gamers of all stripes should find enough equipment and upgrades to power their way through. For a combat-heavy horror game, Blood West focuses on the most important details and leaves the rest to rot, and their full release version delivers one of the year's best surprises.
COGconnected: 80 / 100 by Michael Chow
If you are a fan of classic stealth FPS games, classic FPS games, or even Western games in general, Blood West will be right up your alley. And if you’re not, Blood West may still be worth your time if you have any interest in it based on some of its other factors such as the eldritch horror, resource management, or even challenging gameplay. As someone who hasn’t had as much experience with stealth FPS games, it did take a bit of time to get accustomed to its workings, but once I hit my stride, I found it hard to put the game down.
Try Hard Guides: 9 / 10 by Erik Hodges
Blood West is a spine-chilling, grim, and bloody take on the American West, with stealth-focussed combat and non-linear gameplay that shines through the muck of spilled blood and zombie guts. Monsters, curses, and death await you in this brutal quest to save the bleak frontier.
