Blades of Time is a loose continuation of the action game/TPP X-Blades. Once again we take control of the treasure hunter Ayumi, who, however, does not resemble the same girl from the previous game. The authors decided to change the artistic approach to the project of the main character, who now resembles less the character from Japanese animation.

We land on an exotic island inhabited by strange and dangerous creatures. Among other things, we travel through mysterious temples, ice-covered areas, tropical forests and skies of the cities. We collect the artifacts left behind, solve puzzles and step by step we learn the mysterious history of the island captured by an ominous magical force.

Ayumi uses a range of weapons, firearms and magic to fight his opponents. A total of 40 different spells and skills can be unlocked. The biggest attraction of the Blades of Time is the ability to control time. The developer borrowed solutions known from the Braid game. So we can scroll back and forth a dozen or so seconds, creating up to six clones of the main character. A clone then performs the activities that Ayumi did before the time went back. The patent perfectly checks during the fight and when solving simple puzzles, e.g. when it is necessary to move several levers at the same time.

Just Push Start: 1.25 / 5 by Grant E. Gaines

Blades of Time feels less like a loving remaster that we can now take on the go and more like a last chance at redemption. With frustrating elements, dated idea and less depth than a current Dynasty Warrior title, it's hard to understand who this remaster is for.

Rapid Reviews UK: 2.5 / 5 by Shaun Hughes

The Gaijin Distribution published title, Blades of Time, is the latest in a long line of ports from the last generation of home consoles to land on the Nintendo Switch. Whilst many have been obvious choices, and some a little less so, Blades of Time was the first that made me truly question why. This hack-and-slash, action-adventure title from 2012 is neither steeped in nostalgia nor back by popular demand. The media opinions were somewhat of a mixed bag, and it seemed that Blades of Time would be left to rest alongside the Xbox 360 and PS3.
