Animal Farm is a mix between economic strategy and adventure game. The game was developed by the independent team who have previously worked on positions such as Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, the Fable series, Mafia III and Alien: Isolation.
Story
Animal Farm is an adaptation of the book titled Animal Farm by George Orwell. The game tells the story of the eponymous farm, in which, as a result of a coup led by the pig called the Major, the animals took over the power and exiled the farmers. The actual action starts shortly before these events - as the adventure progresses, the players, taking on the role of one of the animals, gradually discover that what was supposed to become a real paradise on Earth, where "all animals are equal", is a prison, and the Major himself, rules with an iron fist and by breaking pre-established laws, is the embodiment of the principle "power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutly".
It is worth noting that the story told in the game is not a faithful recreation of the original - the devs decided to introduce certain changes, the aim of which was to adapt the whole thing to the specificity of the new medium and the tastes of modern audiences.
Mechanics
Animal Farm enables the players not only to manage the farm but also to make choices that determine the path the plot will follow. The game is non-linear, which positively affects the replayability of the title.
