Release Date: October 22, 2024
The second story expansion for the TPP survival horror from 2023. Alan Wake 2: The Lake House focuses on the secret facility belonging to the Federal Bureau of Control. We play as the FBC agent Kiran Estevaz, dealing with supernatural monsters invading this place.
Alan Wake 2: The Lake House is the second story expansion for the survival horror game Alan Wake 2, released in October 2023. The expansion was developed by the authors of the original, namely Remedy Entertainment studio.
The story told in Alan Wake 2: The Lake House takes place parallel to the initial part of the Anderson saga storyline in the "base game". In the add-on, we play as Kiran Estevaz, an agent of the Federal Bureau of Control (played by Janina Gavankar) known from the game Control.
The story focuses on the titular Lake House, a secret research facility established by the Bureau to conduct mysterious experiments related to paranormal phenomena. The heroine investigates a desolate center, which undergoes macabre transformations, trying to explain what happened there.
The Alan Wake 2: The Lake House add-on was designed as a full-blooded survival horror, putting the atmosphere of horror at the forefront. This is highlighted by new opponents encountered in the Lake House - the so-called Painted. They constitute a monstrous embodiment of the images covering the walls of the center, being able to hide in them and move around.
Kiran Estevaz fights these enemies using various firearms (which deal more damage in the expansion than in the "base game"), as well as a special weapon, which was created to repel paranormal threats. The Lake House is an open-structure location that encourages exploration and discovery of secrets that allow us to learn more about the interconnected universe of Remedy's games.
Similar to the first expansion pack (Night Springs), the levels that make up The Lake House were integrated into the story presented in the base game. They can also be played independently from the main menu.

Game Ratings for Alan Wake 2: The Lake House Video Game.
Final Weapon: 4.5 / 5 by Saras Rajpal
Alan Wake 2: The Lake House highlights the best parts of the base game. While there are some frustrating choices with certain enemies and weapons, the gameplay loop, narrative, and visual design are all brilliant. Further, the fantastic thesis statement at the heart of the DLC, as well as the numerous allusions to what the developers have planned next, will keep many fans hooked from beginning to end.
IGN: 8 / 10 by Tristan Ogilvie
The Lake House DLC is a tightly paced slice of psychological horror that serves as an absorbing addendum to Alan Wake II.
Pure Xbox: 8 / 10 by Ben Kerry
Alan Wake 2: The Lake House is another brilliant slice of Remedy goodness. This expansion certainly veers more into Control territory, so if that's your Remedy jam, you're going to have a great time with this one. For us, we'd have liked the game's final DLC to feel a bit more like Alan Wake in its concept and execution, so The Lake House doesn't feel quite as accomplished as the base game or its previous Night Springs expansion. At just $20 / L15 for both DLC packs though, you really can't go wrong in opening up your wallet for some fresh Alan Wake action.
