TOXIKK is a modern take on 1990s FPS giants to launch on September 9
Do you miss the good old 90s school of fast-paced arena first-person shooters? TOXIKK is about to deliver in less than a month.
After having spent a couple of months in Steam Early Access, the modern take on classic FPS games, TOXIKK, is almost ready for the full launch, which is due on September 9, 2016. The game’s current price on Steam is $18.99, but expect it to go up after the release. Despite what the developers at Reakktor Studios previously said about it being a non-free-to-play, TOXIKK will actually come in a free edition with limited content and features – see details on the official website.
TOXIKK is described by its creators as a spiritual successor to FPS giants of the late 90s, renouncing the direction set by modern military shooters. Let aside its high-end graphics, It’s a classic sci-fi arena FPS with simple mechanics and fast-paced gameplay. Actually, the developers brag about having “no levelling, no skill-trees, no perks, no cover systems, no classes, no configurable weapons and no iron sight timing”. Instead, TOXIKK offers double jumps, multiple weapons carried at the same time (which, apart from basic ones, are to be picked up after each respawn), secondary fire modes, health packs, and many other features known from oldschool shooters.
