The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Issues Persist; Patch Didn't Fix What Players Hoped For
Update 4.02 for The Witcher 3 launched yesterday. Unfortunately, the patch still hasn't solved many of ailments of CD Projekt RED's game.

Yesterday, CD Projekt RED surprised fans of the white-haired monster slayer with an unexpected update for this news. Unfortunately, as suggested by players who have already managed to test the title in the latest version, many of the problems that plagued the "next-gen" Wild Hunt, still remain unresolved.
The theme of most of the negative comments directed toward the latest update is DirectX 12 . Although improved use of the troublesome API was included in the list of fixes introduced with patch 4.02, the Internet was quickly filled with voices of gamers disappointed with its performance. One on Reddit summed up his impressions with the following words:
"The DX12 version is still completely broken. I don't see any difference after the patch. The DX11 version provides me with 60 frames per second, while DX12 offers a completely unplayable 20-25 fps on the same settings," wrote JiveTrain.
Internet s also pointed out the lack of improvement in efficient U utilization:
"[...] Although the utilization seems to be slightly better, it still focuses on 2-3 cores," wrote Towairatu.
"No change in the utilization of my Ryzen 5 5600X, completely no change in performance," reports cocomunges.
As minor bugs, players also mention the ever-present purple spider webs, Geralt's improperly rendered hair, or jerky animations when the game autosaves.
While the developer's commitment to polishing a game released several years earlier by introducing new content and patching existing issues is definitely a positive attitude, it's hard to deny that CD Projekt RED still faces a number of performance challenges with the "next-gen" version of The Witcher 3.
