“Simple request, right?” Kaley Cuoco had one wish, which The Big Bang Theory screenwriters granted in the final season
Kaley Cuoco had a request to the writers of The Big Bang Theory to end the long-running gag for the comfort of the TV series' cast.
Actors are often involved in the creative process of productions in which they take part, sharing with directors, screenwriters and showrunners their own ideas that concern the characters they play or simply the film or series itself. Suggestions vary, and one that Kaley Cuoco went to the screenwriters of The Big Bang Theory with may seem trivial, however, it was important to the actress herself.
The broken elevator was a recurring gag on TBBT that at one point became a source of frustration for Kaley Cuoco. When the actress appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden, she talked about how climbing stairs over time and seasons (and there were as many as 12 final seasons) became tiring for the actors, and so it must have been for the characters they played.
As a result, she asked the screenwriters that the elevator finally be repaired.
I would like the elevator to get fixed… Simple request, right? I mean, the stairs have gotten more and more exhausting as our seasons have gone on. Season 1 and 2 we’re running up there, and now it’s Season 12. We are all a little bit older, a little more difficult getting up those steps. So, I’d like that elevator to work.
The actress' wish was granted, and the elevator, which was of no small importance to the TV series, being the backdrop for many events, was finally fixed. This took place in the final season of The Big Bang Theory. Thanks to this, the long-running gag was given its own ending, without becoming one of the forgotten plots.
