Human Error Crashed OVH; Many Websites Went Down
OVH's servers suffered a major outage this morning, causing many websites to stop working. The problem reportedly occurred during routine hardware maintenance.
OVH servers suffered a major outage today - thousands of web s across Europe have reported problems with displaying of some websites since morning. The company managed to locate the cause and the problem has been partially solved, although some websites may not yet be fully operational.
OVH founder Octave Klaba addressed the situation on Twitter, itting that the problems with the servers were the result of human error. It reportedly occurred during a scheduled hardware maintenance that lasted from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. CET. The OVH Status Feed Twitter originally reported that there should have been no stability issues during this time, but as you can see, not everything went according to plan. Fortunately, the problems with functioning of websites were only temporary, because s have stopped reporting crashes and the broken websites are working.
Recall that in March this year, OVH server room located near Strasbourg suffered a massive failure due to fire. Many companies, including banks, football clubs and auction portals could not resume operation of their websites even hours after the company's buildings were secured.
