Okami set to receive sequel after 18 years. Hideki Kamiya is again responsible for direction

Okami Series unexpectedly returns with a new game. Viewers were surprised by one of the final titles announced during the award ceremony for the best games of the past 12 months at The Game Awards 2024.

So far it hasn't shown much, and the project clearly carries the working title Okami: Sequel. Capcom has already confirmed that Hideki Kamiya, the director of the original Okami, will be in charge of the game's development.

To be honest, this isn't a complete surprise. It has been 12 years since the release of the refreshed version of the original (6 if you count the reissue on Switch). However, one of Capcom's latest games, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, included a crossover with Okami, showing that the publisher still re this brand. Let's just hope that the second installment of the series will sell better than the first one and will be at least equally successful.

The release date and platforms remain unknown.
