Nostalgic city builder with 90s vibes received much larger maps. Metropolis 1998 dev warns of possible restrictions
Metropolis 1998 received a major update that expands the available map area by 25 times. However, the developer warns that in the future, he may introduce restrictions to the demo available on Steam.

Fans of classic city builders have reasons to be happy. The demo of improved the residents' behavior. Among the most important changes in version v0.8.5 are:
- the map has been expanded 25 times, allowing for the construction of much larger cities;
- new features - added, among others, interaction sounds, the ability to place objects on roofs, and the option to adjust the width of zones;
- quality of life improvements - the interface has been improved, guides for placing roads have been introduced, as well as an optional terrain grid.

Since the update brings a much bigger map, the dev says that in the future, there might be some restrictions on population or city size. It's definitely meant to ensure the stability of the gameplay, but let's not forget that this is just a demo after all. Currently, however, we can enjoy full freedom in expanding our metropolises.
Metropolis 1998 is a game inspired by classics like SimCity 2000, featuring isometric pixel art graphics and advanced life simulation for the city's residents. In the game, we can design building interiors, manage traffic in real-time, and observe the daily lives of citizens.
The game's early access release is planned for the fourth quarter of 2025. The game is set to remain there for about two years. The developer said that in the future, the game will have new features like money management and city building, more advanced than the current demand logic and terrain height.
