Nintendo Switch 2 UK pre-orders sell out in the first day
The Nintendo Switch 2 has already sold out in the UK across nine online sellers. This could be the first indication that the console will do the same elsewhere.

Today, we got our first glimpse at the popularity of the Nintendo Switch 2. Despite today’s vocal anger will translate into underwhelming pre-orders. So far, at least in the UK, pre-orders are selling out.
Nintendo Switch 2 sells out across nine online stores in the UK
There are major differences in different international markets, so this is not a perfect indicator of what will happen elsewhere, but it is one the first places where a major market can pre-order the Switch 2. that these pre-orders are only through third-party vendors currently. If you prefer to order through Nintendo, you can your interest on their easy to check.
Thanks to TechRadar, who compiled a list of nine sites where you can pre-order a Nintendo Switch 2 in the UK. Checking each site confirms that they are sold out or unavailable on all nine sites. This includes the base console and the bundle with Mario Kart World. Despite Nintendo’s intentions to ensure more hardware availability for this launch, it does not seem to have stopped these sellers from running out of stock within the first day.
What does this mean for the U.S.? At this point, there’s a lot of uncertainty. Not only is Nintendo yet to make any further announcements about the ongoing tariff-induced delay, we also don’t know if the recent controversies will have an adverse effect on sales. Since the U.S. was a major market for the Switch 1, it’s possible Nintendo anticipated huge pre-order numbers and is much more prepared. Though, if your intentions are still to pre-order as soon as you can, I wouldn’t rely on that.
At the very least, pre-orders selling out in the UK seem like a clear indicator that the Nintendo Switch 2 will sell out quickly around the world. One thing that could seriously slow that down in the U.S. is if Nintendo does raise the price. Either way, it will be a fascinating news story to keep up with in the coming days and weeks. The Nintendo Switch 2 is still planned to launch globally on June 5th, 2025, but we’ll see who actually has one by that date.
