Over the last year there has been a lot of speculation about what games will launch with the next Nintendo console. Will it be a new 3D Mario game such as Super Mario Odyssey 2? Or will it be Metroid Prime 4? Nintendo has no shortage of hit franchises. But only one game was shown during today’s long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2 reveal trailer.
The Nintendo Switch 2 might be launching with a brand new Mario Kart after eleven years.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. This long run certainly s for its high sales numbers, but there is no denying the series’ popularity either.
Now look at today’s Nintendo Switch 2 reveal trailer. The primary focus is on the hardware itself. The new Nintendo console appears to have magnetic joy-cons, a bigger kick stand, and is overall a much larger device. But in the final forty seconds of the trailer, one game is shown on the new console’s screen: a never-before-seen Mario Kart game.
Nintendo has promised to reveal more about their new console during a Nintendo Direct set for April 2nd. For now, speculation will have to continue. Nothing in the reveal trailer’s description or Nintendo’s website mentions the new Mario Kart footage or gives a name to the new entry in the series. It might be another few months before we know anything for certain. But at least the leaks and rumors will be put to rest for now.
