Mobile Game Revenues Down Again in 2023; Still Remain Impressive
In 2023, the mobile game segment recorded a decline in revenue. However, it is still the absolute leader of the video game market, and the sums it generates make one's head spin.
The mobile gaming market still seems to be in a slight recession. The annual State of Mobile report - available on Data.ai - showed that in 2023, 2% less money was spent on mobile games worldwide than recorded in previous such study, when the market segment in question began to show the first symptoms of "losing steam" (there was a decline of 4% year-on-year).
However, it should be emphasized that this is still a staggering USD 107 billion in revenue. Moreover, mobile titles in 2023 were ed to phones as many as 1.1 billion times.
China remains the undisputed leader in this industry segment, with revenues of USD 37.6 billion. The following spots belong to:
- United States - 24 billion dollars in revenue;
- Japan - 12.78 billion dollars in revenue;
- South Korea - 6.34 billion dollars in revenue,

The highest-grossing mobile games in 2023 were Honkai: Star Rail.
Despite their slightly worse condition, mobile phones remain the absolute leader of the entire video game market. Additionally, the authors of the study emphasize that although this segment has lost financially compared to the previous year, many markets around the world are still experiencing a "boom" in mobile games - this includes countries like , Brazil, South Korea, and Turkey.
