Layoffs at Microsoft, Including Xbox Division
About 1,000 Microsoft employees have been laid off from their jobs. The cuts have affected the Xbox division, among others.

Employees or, more precisely, former Microsoft employees are increasingly reporting mass layoffs at the company. They concern various divisions of the Redmond giant, including Xbox. It is said about a thousand people have been laid off, often holding their positions for many years.

The staff cuts include the Xbox division, as well as people associated with Alpha Studio, which was established to design cloud-based military simulations. The chief architect of Studio Alpha has made no secret of his disappointment, writing on this Twitter profile:
"Today I and my entire team were laid off. 12 years at Microsoft and 25 years in game development. Details will follow soon, when the shock subsides."
Cuts were also felt by Microsoft Mission Engineering, the division that researched space technology. Some of the people working there were informed of the layoffs via email.
Microsoft has not yet addressed the sudden layoffs, and the company has stressed in the past that it intends to continue investing and hiring in key growth areas. Although the layoffs have affected less than 1% of Microsoft's staff, it is still a large enough group that the issue could not go unnoticed by gaming and technology websites.
