“It Was Just Too Good to Believe.” John Travolta Felt “Heart Palpitation” During Filming of Iconic Scene from Grease

There is probably no person interested in cinema who has not heard of Grease. The cult film starring John Travolta still generates a lot of interest today, and for good reason; it's a solid entry among the danceable musicals, telling the story of Sandy and Danny's unforgettable love.

Travolta, in duet with Olivia Newton-John, perfectly portrayed the joy of youthful love. Grease, however, was an unforgettable experience not only for the audience, but also for the actors themselves. John Travolta, during an interview with The Sunday Post, talked about how because of one scene with Newton-John he felt “heart palpitation.”

It was a moment that surprised not only him, but also the audience. Sandy's transformation was a pivotal moment in the film that has been etched in the minds of many. Travolta is certainly not surprised by this fact, since he himself itted that in that moment he was accompanied by the conviction that “it was just too good to believe.” It was a scene in which Sandy, smoking a cigarette, appeared in the school yard dressed in tight pants, a leather jacket and a blouse with open shoulders, all in black, presenting Danny with her new version.

The actor's enthusiasm, unfortunately, was not shared by some in the audience, alleging that Sandy's decision to change her entire personality for Danny was anti-feminist. Newton-John, who felt empowered by Sandy's transformation, disagrees with this view. And as she said: “It wasn’t anti-feminist – it was my choice in that moment.”
