Intel's New U Significantly Faster Than Ryzen; Alder Lake U Benchmark Leaked
A benchmark of the new Intel i9-12900K processor has been leaked. The model from the Alder Lake generation may be up to 25% faster than the top Ryzen 5950X. Release coming later this year.

- Intel's Alder Lake generation U could be up to 25% faster than AMD's flagship Ryzen 9 5950X;
- This is suggested by a leaked benchmark.
Could it be that Intel is about to retake the leadership mantle? Twitter Raichu (author of many U-related leaks) posted a benchmark that shows that Core i9-12900K U from the new generation Alder Lake may be up to 25% faster than AMD's top model Ryzen 9 5950X.
The multi-core performance in Cinebench R20 was 11,600 points - by comparison, the Ryzen 9 5950X scores 10,480 points in this case. This is an increase of about 11%. Single-core performance looks more interesting - the result is 810 points, which is almost 25% more than the aforementioned Ryzen (650 points). Such differences may be due to the design of Intel's i9-12900K processor. It is supposed to consist of two types of cores - single-threaded Gracemont and multi-threaded Golden Cove.

The benchmarked U unit may be an engineering sample, so the performance of the final version will probably be different. The release of the consumer version of Intel's Alder Lake Us (including DDR5 , PCI-Express 5.0 and desktop 10nm) is expected later this year. The final results will be revealed by first independent benchmarks, but it seems AMD has reason to be concerned.
