Distant Land? These and more you will learn from our texts. However, in this article we will talk about settlement limits and how to increase it.

How to increase settlement cap in Civilization 7 (Civ 7)

No one should be surprised that in Civ 7, the game about creating civilizations, you have to found your own cities. Of course, we would like to build as many as we can. However, there is a limit to that. While we can technically own more settlements than the cap, it is connected to a high Happiness penalty. And we don’t want our towns to rebel, am I right? So, it’s better to not ignore the limit completely.

How to deal with this issue:

  1. New Technologies and Civics – read descriptions, some of them will grand you additional +1 settlement limit like Irrigation and Organized Military in the first age.
  2. Attributes – it is easy to forget about that, but your leaders also gain experience. You can exchange it on Attributes. Some of them will add a point to your city cap. Look for them in the Militaristic and Expansionist tabs.

though that all of these methods are quite long to use. You will not be able to build an infinite number of settlements. Keep that in mind and pick only the best and most strategic places.
