Cyberpunk 2077 and many other games received AMD FSR 4 thanks to modders
Thanks to the fan project OptiScaler, gamers can now add AMD FSR 4 to many games that do not natively the technology.

Until now, AMD's upscaling solutions lagged significantly behind those offered by Nvidia. However, the recently released FSR4 has managed to greatly narrow the gap with DLSS technology. The problem is that most older games are unlikely ever to receive updates adding FSR 4. That's where modders stepped in to help.
- The result is the OptiScaler project, a tool that allows for replacing upscaling technologies in games.
- In practice, this means that if a game s at least DLSS 2, FSR 2, or XeSS, we can add newer versions of these technologies to it.
- This replacement isn’t limited to just one technology. For example, if a game s DLSS 2, nothing stops you from using OptiScaler to add for FSR4.
- Of course, it’s still an unofficial tool, so it doesn’t always work perfectly. That’s why the creators prepared a list where s can add information about how different games work with OptiScaler. If you run into problems, you can also find tips there on how to resolve them.
You can check the results of using this tool in the video above, which shows Cyberpunk 2077 running with FSR 4 added via this application, compared to FSR 3, which this Polish blockbuster natively s.
FSR4 isn’t as good as the latest DLSS yet, but the gap between these technologies is now much smaller, both in of image quality and performance. This is why it’s great that players can now add for AMD's newest technology to games whose developers haven’t released the appropriate updates.
- Several years of improving Cyberpunk 2077 are expected to help Switch 2 version avoid PS4 and Xbox One editions fate, says CD Projekt RED
- Some players are worried that games like Cyberpunk 2077 could get banned in US under the Interstate Obscenity Definition Act (IODA) bill
- One of the gigs in Cyberpunk 2077 raised questions even at CD Projekt RED. „I would say that if you never have that discussion, you're probably not making art”
