Bruce is back from the dead. So is his noir story
Bruce is an Sin City-inspired noir game developed by Logic Artists. Set in a “dark city of future,” it will tell a story of a man who will have to sacrifice everything to save his beloved woman.
Nobody wanted to hear about Bruce, and frankly, there wasn’t much of a story to be told either. Abandoned in 2012 by a Polish developer Tabasco Entertainment, everybody thought he was gone for good, and no one would have really cared if it turned out to be the truth. Still, if we weren’t so busy with our lives, chasing after whatever we think is worth the hassle, maybe we would have noticed him stepping out of the shadows in a gamescom hall of all the places, his cigarette lit, and a lily in his hand. Yeah, he was there all right. And just like that, he told us he will be back in town in 2017.
Bruce’s life, colorless, gloomy, and cold like the water in a November puddle, is something you’d best not get involved with; you could even say Bruce himself is a character taken straight from a pulp magazine, or maybe a noir movie, if you’re feeling generous. You see the buildings he’s visiting – you think ‘Art Deco’, you see the staircase he’s climbing – you think ‘Art Nouveau’, and you think ‘Bruce’ when you see thugs surrounding him die of acute lead poisoning. But his mind’s not there anymore when they fall to the ground. Why? You the lily I told you about earlier? Truth is, there’s one more Lily in his life. What happened to her? Where is she now? That’s a story for another time.
