Boiling Point Coming to Steam; Ambitious Classic FPS That May Have Inspired Far Cry 2 and 3
An 18-year-old open-world FPS, which can be called the unofficial precursor to the second and later installments of the Far Cry series, is heading to Steam.

After more than 18 years since its official release, Deep Shadows will appear on Valve's platform on November 14, this year.
The game, although old, undoubtedly still deserves the attention of players. This is ed by the fact that Boiling Point: Road to Hell is one of the first truly expansive sandbox FPS games that appeared on the market. What's more, some of the game's mechanics and realities indicate that this title could have been an inspiration for the creators of subsequent parts of Far Cry - especially the iconic "2" and "3".
Boiling Point: Road to Hell, or a lot of freedom, character progression and factions
In the work of Deep Shadows, players take on the role of a former member of the Foreign Legion, who travels to the South American jungle to search for his missing daughter.
- The place of action is the sizable fictional country of Regalia, where we will find mainly picturesque wilderness, but also towns and smaller settlements. Interestingly, there are no loading screens in the game.
- The vast terrains can be traversed using numerous vehicles and other machines (not only land-based).
- The title is famous for its extensive faction system; you will find criminals, government, civilians, drug cartels, ethnic minorities or special agents. Importantly, reputation among factions is crucial to the gameplay.
- There is also room for RPG elements, such as character progression.
- We "push" the plot by, among other things, talking to NPCs and performing tasks for them.
- In addition to humans, who can become our enemies if we lose reputation with them, the game also features animals such as snakes and jaguars - they will attack us if we violate their territory.
- In Boiling Point: Road to Hell we will also find a sizable arsenal of weapons.
It is worth noting that in 2008 the discussed game lived to see a prequel in the form of White Gold: War in Paradise.
Finally, I will point out that Boiling Point: Road to Hell was released only on PC.
